On Saturday the Club saw great success in the 152nd Trinity Regatta, held on our home water on the Liffey at Islandbridge.

The warm, Sunny weather set the stage for a fantastic day’s racing, with clubs from Ireland and abroad making the journey to race.

DUBC had a number of crews entered, including an Intermediate coxed four, a Club coxed four, a Club sculler and an Intermediate sculler. Unfortunately these crews were unlucky with their racing and did not come away with a win.

Greater fortune was had in the Men’s Senior Eight, with DUBC winning the event early in the morning, beating the current National Champions Commercial by 1 1/3 Lenghts in a hard fought race. Well rowed Trinity!

The Men’s Novice Eight’s race came to a bittersweet conclusion as DUBC beat a strong UCD crew by 1 length, but unfortunately were disqualified for clipping a buoy on the course.

The day also saw a number of overseas entries, with K.S.R.V Njord once again travelling to race a multitude of events from Men’s Novice Eights to Women’s Senior Double. Also attending the regatta was Blue Star who raced in Men’s Intermediate eights beating UCD in a thrilling Final. Well rowed Blue Star.

Also taking to the course were Past Trinity crews, with the Junior crew of 1968 and the Senior crew of 2008 taking to the water for a row past. We also saw the 1977 Ladies plate crew take the water for a row past.

Overall, a fantastic day was had at the regatta with great racing and atmosphere on the bank throughout the day. A huge thank you goes to the Regatta Committee, and all umpires and marshals who helped to organise and run the event. Well rowed Trinity.
