Following what could only be described as biblical levels of flooding around the country DUBC was forced to cancel its annual sejourn to the sunny banks of the Erne, instead a week of solid work was undertaken in Blessington, Islandbridge, and below the weir in Dublin. With the Lake swollen from the aforementioned deluge over the festive period this led to wonderfully calm conditions. The Squad stuck to the mantra of the previous few years that “mileage makes champions”, with over 160km completed over the 5 day camp. An array of boats were deployed each session, with 4s and doubles pushing each other every session.

The Squad is eternally grateful to the coaches that helped make such a camp happen at short notice, Head coach, Colm Butler ably assisted by Development officer Charles Cunningham and new recruit Colin Daly. Our thanks are also due to former cox Ainé McConville who filled in in the hotseat for a long hard session in which the squad broke up into two eights and put each other to the test,

With the racing season now only weeks away DUBC should feel confident that they have the put the winter work and and that they should be ready to win come racing season
