DUBC battled it out with UCDBC in the annual colours races. Events started on Friday evening, when the second Novice VIII (Goonan Cup) and Intermediate VIII raced in Islandbridge (top to bottom). The Goonan cup was nearly in our sights but for a last minute jam in the steering. The Intermediate men fought valiantly but ultimately narrowly missed out. Saturday morning saw the first Novice VIII (Dan Quinn Shield) and Senior VIII (Gannon Cup) compete. The Novice VIII had a decisive victory winning by clear water, the Gannon race was much more of a close call, with both crews moving forward throughout the race, with DUBC ultimately missing out by 2/3 of a length. We look forward to racing going forward, with Neptune and Commercial coming next, and University Championships after that.
